Can Raines Resources come to any site to deliver training and assessment?
We deliver training nationwide. Provided you have the equipment required, Raines Resources can come to you for training and assessments at your mine site. We have been inducted onto various sites including those by BHP, FMG, Rio Tinto and MRL among others.
Why are licensing and VOC's so important?
Under the WHS Act 2020, the PCBU is responsible for ensuring workers are properly trained to maintain a safe workplace and safe work practices. Licensing and VOCs (Verification of Competency) ensure that workers are certified to operate specific equipment safely, reducing the risk of accidents or harm to themselves and others.
Can I operate any machinery across a brand's broad range of equipment?
No. While equipment from the same brand may look similar, each model can have different attachments, functionalities, and operational parameters. Not understanding these differences can lead to equipment failure, and in some cases, serious injury or even death.
I have a VOC from a private company, why do I need a Nationally Accredited VOC?
A Nationally Accredited VOC is conducted by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and meets national standards set by regulatory bodies like ASQA and TAC. This ensures the training is consistent and reliable.
Private VOCs, on the other hand, are unregulated, and the qualifications of the trainer may not meet these national standards, leading to inconsistencies in competency.
I got VOC'd last month on a different mine or building site. Why can't I use this?
VOC documentation is often site-specific, meaning the equipment, conditions, or work practices may differ from site to site. Additionally, the trainer who issued your VOC may not have been fully qualified on the equipment used at your current site and the SME (Subject Matter Expert) may have limited experience and pass on inefficient systems of work.
Why do we need a new system, this one works fine?
Older systems are still evolving, newer systems have enhanced work health benefits and bottom-line productivity returns.
With the old system, workers can lose up to two full days completing VOCs at different sites, while in some cases Nationally Recognised RTO documents allow workers to get started within hours of arriving at a new site. This boosts worker productivity and reduces paperwork, leading to better outcomes for both the worker and the company.
